Get The Right Event Planner For Your Next Celebration

Wedding come up? 50th Anniversary Celebration? Big Birthday Bash? Whatever the special occasion one thing is for certain; planning a sophisticated event and coordinating all the details and things that have to happen is no easy task. That’s why you need to hire an event planner and here’s how to find a good event planner

You might think that hiring an event planner isn’t within your budget but you couldn’t be more wrong. The time you’ll save is worth a lot of money, and with an event planner you are going to save a lot of time and you’ll even keep your sanity. You’ll put your mind at ease knowing you don’t have the burden of managing all the details for your special event. You’ll just need to decide what type of planner you want.

A good event planner is a pro at planning events. That’s what they do. You’ll want to choose an event planner that is an expert in the type of event you are planning. So if your special event is a wedding hire a wedding planner. You want the event to be unforgettable and a qualified planner will do just that for you.

You’ll need to decide whether you want a planner that simply provides guidance in a passive manner or who takes charge of the entire event. A full service planner will oversee everything from the budget, to the coordinating, to hiring the vendors, to being on site to supervise the event. A passive planner will work with you and give you guidance, but at the end of the day you will still be in charge of hiring vendors and supervising the event.

You should get several quotes from several different event planners. That way you can compare prices. Be sure to ask lots of questions so you know what you are comparing and always get your quotes in writing. You also need to find out what the fee structure is. The final payment should occur after the event is over.

Meeting with the planner is also important. Your personalities need to mesh and you need to feel comfortable with the planner. If the planner has a totally different vision of what’s fun and what’s a good event, he or she isn’t the planner for you.

A good event planner will ask you lots of questions and listen to you until they understand exactly what you are looking for. You should also ask for some recent references and be sure to contact them to see how others feel about the planner.

If you decide to hire an event planner you won’t be disappointed. Instead of stressing about your special event, you’ll be looking forward to it with anticipation knowing everyone’s going to have a great time that’s truly memorable!

The Gift Of Grandparents

One of the biggest blessings you can have in life is grandparents. Not too many people take the time or care to learn from and enjoy the people who raised their parents. Being in consistent relationship with your grandparents can add so many good things to your life. For starters, you should get to know the gift of your grandparents simply because they are a part of your family and because without them you literally wouldn't be alive. Your grandparents are the ones who had your parents and who raised them to be the kind of people that have raised and loved you. Think about all the hard work your grandparents put in to raising their children. What a shame to miss out on the blessing that grandparents can be in your life. Think about the wealth of knowledge that your grandparents have. Depending on how old they are, they have lived many years and have seen the world change in many ways. Grandparents are a great resource to learn things about the history of our nation and of the world. The next time you are struggling in a history class or you simply want to learn something new, go to your grandparents and see what they can teach you. The next time you have a free afternoon set a time to enjoy a coffee or a lemonade with your grandparents. Ask them about their lives and and the things they have learned. You'll be amazed how much practical life advice comes from grandparents who have lived a few years. Having relationship with your grandparents can be really fun. Many grandparents are much more relaxed than parents and so they often will spend more time, energy and money on things that your parents would never agree to. Everyone knows that they can eat dessert before dinner at grandma's house or that a visit to their grandparents house means staying up later and playing more games than you ever play at home. Many grandparents would love to spend time with their grandchidren but are just unsure of how to initiate the relationship. Make an effort to go out of your way and maybe even your comfort zone and get to know them. They will be nothing but delighted to get to know you. I promise that you'll never regret the time and effort you put into knowing your grandparents. They are some of the best people on earth and you can learn a lot about your parents and about yourself just by learning about them. You never know how long your grandparents are going to live, so take time today to get to know them a little bit better.

Get real with Reality TV

Reality TV is far from educational but you have to admit that they are damned well good fun to watch.

I can not speak for others and I have no jurisdiction over television stations that air these types of programme. However this type of entertainment can be very fulfilling in providing pleasure to viewers who get withdrawal symptoms should they not get their weekly fix of reality TV.

Then we have the vast majority who find it all so false and irritating.
Who do you please?  A catch 22 situation,

Why the big issue over the showing of these series is beyond me. No one twists your arm up your back to view the antics of the Big Brother house; no one holds your head steadfast while you squirm at the creepy crawlies swallowed by the inhabitants of the Australian jungle.

There is no imposed law out there stating that you the viewer have to watch this garbage as some would see it. Millions of people tune into their favourite channels and are content to watch what they enjoy, and if reality TV is one of those channels, then so be it.
Freedom of choice, so many laws out there dictating how we run our lives with out some critic sticking the oar in to scrap reality television all because it is not educational.

If people want educating then surely they will tune into the discovery channel, where they get to see the gruesome remains of bodies unearthed for DNA testing.

For updates as to what is going on around the world we have the CNN news showing the bombings in Iraq followed by flashes of pictures of bony skeletal starving kids in Africa.

Crime watch another awareness programme on how to catch a thief or nail a mugger while they load up a mug shot on our screens of the bloodied battered face of the 80 year old woman mugged for her pension. Sorry I have done enough crying for the day watching all that suffering.
If reality TV can generate a strong presence of pleasure and put a smile on the faces of millions who enjoy this type of entertainment, then leave it be.

To much crying in the world today and if reality TV takes on the role of being clown for the evening to put a smile on your face then make sure to tune in every week.

Remember you will always get the critic or the anti reality TV person ready to wipe the smile of your face. Well for those people against, face up to reality and deal with it, as it is here to stay.

The Dreams for Kids Team will Race Across America-but not on Sunday

The Race Across America (RAAM) is a 3053-mile race across the country beginning in Oceanside, CA and ending in Atlantic City, NJ. RAAM is known as the world’s toughest event. Through deserts and over mountains, in conditions that will range from cold, heat, snow, rain, darkness and blazing sun, the finishers of this non-stop race across the United States will have climbed nearly 110,000 feet, equal to traveling a distance from the ground to the edge of space, four times the altitude of Mt. Everest. Those few riders to reach the finish line will have traveled a combined distance equal to circling the earth at the equator four times. There are solo riders, two-person teams, four-person teams and eight-person teams. The four-person team race begins at 2 PM Pacific Time on Tuesday, June 13 and ends at 12 PM Eastern Time on Friday, June 23. In other words, the four-person teams have 9 days and 19 hours, or 235 hours to finish the race. Dreams for Kids, a 501© (3), non-profit children’s charity, which is volunteer based and raises it donations through community fundraising and special events such as RAAM, works primarily to improve the lives of kids with disabilities. I am racing for Dreams for Kids. The Dreams for Kids cycling team, however, only has 8 days and 19 hours, or 211 hours of riding time to finish the race. This is because the Dreams for Kids team will not be riding on Sunday. As a member of the Dreams for Kids team, I am often asked, “Why aren’t you riding on Sunday?” Let me explain. I believe the Bible to be the word of God, and in the Bible it says: (1) that God created the earth and its inhabitants in six days, that He rested on the seventh day, and that He blessed and sanctified the seventh day (Genesis 2:1-3); (2) to remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy (Exodus 20:8); (3) if you keep the Sabbath day holy you will “eat your bread to the full” and that you will lie down with peace and not be afraid (Leviticus 26:2-6). I believe that we are God’s children, that He loves us, and that when we do what He asks us to do He blesses us abundantly. The word Sabbath comes from the Hebrew word shabbath, meaning day of rest. Therefore, to keep the Sabbath day holy, I believe we are to rest from our labors, rest from our selfish interests, and rest from our self-absorbing activities. The Sabbath is also the Lord’s day, and thus while it is a day for resting from our labors, it is also a day for us to do His work. It is a day to pray and worship, a day to visit the sick and distressed, a day to perform acts of kindness, a day to read and meditate. I truly believe that if I remember the Sabbath and keep it holy, I will prosper far more than if I was to labor on that day. Once again, I believe we are God’s children, that He loves us, and that if we keep His commandments He will bless us in ways that bring everlasting peace and happiness. I do not mean to be lofty or obnoxious towards those who do not believe as I do, but as noted above, I am often asked why I am not racing on Sunday, and for me, the peace I have and the blessings I believe will come from keeping the Sabbath day holy are far more valuable than winning a race.

Family Violence

“Family for and individual is a multiplied self”, says the saying, one can’t but agree with. A family is the first social group where you grow up and learn the simplest things. So the influence of it makes the first step in formation of a personality. It is hard to see, how negative can this influence be. In the twenty first century it seems as if there are no problems inside the social group and everything goes fine but when you hear about numerous accidents that happen in one’s household your hair starts rising from a thought: “How could mother nature possibly create such a monster?” Family violence is not a surprising fact today and sometimes people even show indifference towards it. As soon as it won’t happen to them they don’t care, but when it comes to trouble in our household, we rush to complain about everybody’s indifference to your situation.

The most horrifying thing about family violence is that children suffer physically and mentally most of all. In one of American schools children were asked to write a compare and contrast essay on a free topic. When the papers were turned in teacher went home taking them along. She didn’t show up at work on time, she was at the dean’s office, crying and reading a paper of one student, who compared life in his family with the life of his friend’s. The case ended in the court and cruel parents were put into jail for three years each for child abuse. I’m quite sure that we’ll have to read a lot of similar compare and contrast essays if we give the task to every school in the US. Mass media is full of stories like this and that leaves us with no hope for this problem to be solved. Fortunately, we still have people who think that their duty is to help those in need. They arrange funds, create associations, and get their force into the governmental branches and into international organizations. They do a lot to correct the situation but unfortunately there is no way to see this terrible thing coming in a family.

Cases of violence don’t depend on social or financial status. It happens in wealthy household as well as in the family of the poor. Sometimes a conflict razes out of nothing, a trifle that makes people nervous and anxious. We can describe various situations for a very long time and make this story endless, but our main aim is to help those who have survived or observe violence in the family. First of all, you must remember that violence can be not only physical but also mental and sometimes the consequences of the last are more severe than of the first. Your role in the family doesn’t matter. Just because you are a son or a mother you don’t have to stand violence because of some rules that you were taught. Every person has a right to protect his/her life, it is said in every constitution and you might want to buy a one for reference. If you have experienced family violence, don’t be afraid to tell about it. The quicker you do it the sooner you’ll get help and be safe. There is nothing to be ashamed of. In this situation you are not guilty, you are the victim, besides if you don’t turn for help at once, and other members of the family may suffer. It is a sad topic to discuss, but this is a burning problem nowadays and without discussion there will be no solution. Everything comes from the genuine interest. If you are willing to help and have some suggestions, I’m sure many people will be showing you gratitude.
