Gift ideas for your nearest and dearest one

Gifts are a medium to express love and emotion towards another person. It is usually presented to people who are very close. Presenting gifts has now become a very common affair, whereas initially it was just restricted to occasions like, marriages, birthdays, Christmas, New Year etc. Today with the growth of society and with growing relationships, the frequency of presenting gifts to near and dear ones has multiplied several times. A lot of things need to be considered while gifting somebody. Topping the list is the relationship you share with the person. Secondly, the occasion needs to be taken care of and finally, fixing of your budget is necessary. Gifts are exchanged on various occasions, a unique gift presented with love, does not only makes the recipient happy but it also helps in the strengthening of bond. Various occasions can be listed when gifts are shared. Lets check on a few interesting ideas of gifts on various such occasions. Marriage Gifts: Marriage is a very special occasion in a person’s life, and to make this day a memorable one, unique and special gifts are presented to the newly wed couple by their near and dear ones. Depending on your relationship and of course your budget, you can choose from a special honeymoon package to a remote island, to gold and diamond jewellery to present to the couple. If a honeymoon package does not suit your budget you can also arrange for a cozy dinner for the twosome in a good restaurant, which they can enjoy and make it memorable. Presenting them with a surprise gift while they are dining will be an added treat. Presenting household items to the newly wed is also a good and useful idea, if they are moving into a new home after marriage. New Baby Gifts: To welcome the new life in your relative or friend’s house, gift them with baby stuffs, like baby toys, dresses (make sure they are little large in size, as babies grow fast), baby toilette sets etc. If your budget permits you can also present them with a small nursery setup in their home, for the new baby. Birthday Gifts: Birthdays are unanimous occasion to present gifts to someone. Not much needs to be thought while choosing a birthday gift for someone. You just need to pick up things that will suit the person’s personality or if you are aware of something he/ she has been looking forward to buy. Surprising the birthday boy/ girl with flowers and cakes is a tried, and tested idea, which always clicks. New Year and Christmas Gifts: This is probably the oldest occasion in history when family members exchange gifts. There is no specification as to what you should gift. The idea of exchanging gifts on New Year and Christmas is to wish them a happy and successful year ahead. It is a great idea to present things your friends and relatives have been wishing to have. This shall make them happy. What else could beat a happy New Year start? Gifts for Him/ Her: To gift that special person in your life is the toughest job indeed. You always want your present to be the best for your partner. If the choice is getting too difficult, it is safe to settle for generic options. In case you are looking to gift her, pick up a good jewelllery piece, which is a hit amongst women. You could also chose from cosmetics, stuffed toys, dresses or a good ladies perfume, which she will surely like. While choosing a present for him, the best options include the eternal, perfumes, shirts, office stationeries like organizers or a good branded pen. If your partner is a music freak you could also gift them with the latest release of their favorite musician. The custom of exchanging gift is a sweet gesture to develop relationships and to show how much you care. Gifts are a great medium to express those thoughts, which you could not phrase in words.

Birthday Gift Baskets for Under $35

Are you looking for an inexpensive gift, yet one that has a personal touch and shows the recipient how much you really care? Did you know that you could make a birthday gift basket cheaper than you can buy many presents? In addition, the gift basket will have a personal touch that is sure to be appreciated.

The first thing you should do is decide what type of things the recipient enjoys. Take a piece of paper and write down the things you can think of that he or she likes. You might even jot down a few stores that you would like to visit for gift ideas. One of the most important things to remember is to personalize the gift basket specifically for him or her. The people who really love you probably are not looking for expensive gifts, just a reassurance that you are thinking of them and love them.

For supplies, you should be able to get a reasonably priced basket at the local Wal-Mart or crafts store. If you check their clearance section, you should be able to find some nice ribbon to wrap around the basket and fabric to line the bottom of the basket. You can even search online to learn how to make attractive bows from fabric or ribbon. Wal-Mart has a section of inexpensive gift cards, but if you are handy with the computer, you can print your own. Look in the office supply section for blank cards with envelopes and print your own specially made birthday card.

There are no rules saying all the items in your basket have to be new. Go to local garage and estate sales to search for good bargains. If you find something used, but in good shape and at a great price, go ahead and get it. Sometimes you can even find new items with the tags still on them at these sales. Also, remember that if you find something for someone at a good price, but his or her birthday is still months away, go ahead and get it. You can always store it away until it is needed.

For some ideas, let’s say your mother likes to scrapbook. She may also love getting pictures of her grandchildren. Perhaps while she scrapbooks, she loves to drink flavored coffee. For her basket, you can go to the local crafts store and purchase some scrapbook supplies. If you have a camera (digital works best, but you can use a regular camera too), you can take some new photos of your children and have them printed out so she can use them when she scrapbooks. Finally, visit the grocery store for the flavored coffee. You can purchase a large bag of her favorite flavor or several small bags of different flavors. Top off the basket with a nice handmade birthday card from the kids and you have a basket your mother is sure to love!

If it is your best friend’s birthday, but you do not have a lot of money to spend, do not worry! You can make a great gift basket for under $35. Most towns have a dollar store and they have items that will work well for a birthday basket. You might pick up a few picture frames and fill them with pictures of you two at a special occasion (a wedding or party). Or, find a special quote about friendship online. Copy and paste it in a word processor, change it to an attractive font, print it out and put that in the picture frame. The dollar stores usually have cute figurines, hair accessories, notepads, bubble bath, nail polish, and candles – tons of things you can use to fill a gift basket.

For your husband, you can focus in on his hobby. Does he like to go fishing? You can purchase some small fishing items to put in his basket. To make it extra special, print up some “Go Fishing Anytime” coupons. Or, if he asks you to go with him, but you never do, print up a “Take Me With You” coupon. Find a red ribbon to wrap around the coupons; place them in the basket with his other fishing items, throw in some of his favorite snacks and you will have a nice gift basket. You could also make your husband or boyfriend a “Lover’s Gift Basket.” Purchase some of your favorite bubble bath, lotions, chocolates (to feed him), a bottle of wine, and print up some love coupons to go in the basket.

With a little planning and creativity, you can create a great gift basket that will not break your bank! Additionally, the recipient will love it, because it will be a one of a kind gift that shows how much you care.

Food Gifts for All

Have your ever bought a gift for someone only to discover that someone has bought them the same thing? Or perhaps someone beet you to it by a year or so. This is another reason why I prefer to present people with food gifts combined with the huge variety that you can choose from these days! Repeat gifts are no longer an issue.

Christmas has not long past as I am writing this, and I find myself casting my mind back to my Christmas shopping spree  and reflecting on my credit card bill. The reality is that Christmas or any other occasion gift baskets need not be that expensive. Consider the cost of individual jams, wines, chutney’s pate etc, and you will soon come to realise that you can put together a pretty impressive food basket for no more that the price of a DVD these days. Of course, no one wants to be known as thrifty on such occasions, so you may want to go for something a little more upmarket, exotic or just aim for quantity depending on who the food basket is intended for.

While everyone’s tastes will vary, you may also need to consider allergies. Personally, especially around the festive season I quite like nuts but many people have an allergy to this particular delicacy so be thoughtful. Dried fruit, Belgian chocolates or truffles or other confectionary may well be the safer choice. My mother, in her retirement took to giving out food gifts on such occasions particularly home made jams, chutneys and other preserves in cute but inexpensive jar which were often recycled which you may agree is appropriate in this day and age..

The sure way to almost anyone's heart is through their stomach via gastronomic treats. Whether you are partial to a little ‘duck a l’orange pate’, chocolate covered fruit or dried fruit or a fine wine, there is something in a food gift basket for everyone, and who knows, they may just share with you.

My top tips for food baskets are; make it pleasurable, memorable, enjoyable, and unusual unless you are buying for a fussy eater. And always remember that presentation is everything, so make sure the basket is as tasteful as the contents if not more so.

Personalizing Your Gifts With Flair

When you give a gift of any nature or for any occasion, you want to make it something that the recipient will really like and keep for many years. While you want to put your own personal stamp on the gift so that whomever you give it to will remember you, you do need to make it personal for the gift recipient. A retirement gift for an employee that has given years of service is usually a bracelet or a watch. That in itself is an expensive gift, but when it is engraved with a personal message or Thank You, it makes the gift all that much more memorable. Taking the time to search for the perfect gift shows in the gift itself. When you give clothes to a child at Christmas or for a birthday, the parents are happy. However, the child is probably devastated because he/she wants something to play with. Even though teenagers love to get clothing as gifts, you really do need to know that person well to be able to pick out a style that suits the taste and personality. This is why giving a teenager money as a gift is the best choice because it gives the young person a choice in what he/she wants to buy. Baby showers, wedding showers, weddings, birthdays and anniversaries all offer an opportunity to choose the perfect gift. For many people receiving money in a card says that you couldn't be bothered to take the time to go shopping for a gift. You do have to know the person and take time to reflect on what he/she likes in order to give a gift that will count. Although gift certificates are acceptable, you may be limiting that person to shop at a store that he/she does not like. Jewellery is always a good choice as are candles, ornaments and electronic gadgets. The price of the gift is not important. It is the thought and the actual gift that count the most.
